6 Facts About The Twilight Saga That Are Little-Known
Did you know that the Cullens have a family crest that is on a piece of each of their jewelry? Or that Stephenie Meyer appeared in the movies? In this article, there are 6 interesting facts that you may or may not have known about the Twilight Saga, books and movies.
1. Stephenie Meyer came up with the idea of Twilight because of a dream she had.
The whole Twilight Saga started with a dream. Stephenie Meyer says that she dreamed of two people in a meadow. One of them was a sparkly boy, and the other was a normal girl. This scene is shown many times throughout the books and the movies. She remembers the exact night that she had the dream: June 2, 2003. Speaking of Stephenie Meyer, she made a special appearance in the movie as a customer of the diner that Bella and her father went to. She is the one working on her laptop that gets served by the waitress.
2. New Moon premiered on the night of a new moon.
In most countries, New Moon premiered on November 20, 2009 (Los Angeles premiered on November 16). November 20 also was the night of a new moon. The reason that this was the title of the second book/movie of the Twilight Saga was because a new moon is the darkest part of the lunar cycle, and this happens to be the darkest period of Bella’s life. This is the book where Edward leaves Forks, leaving Bella depressed.
3. The first book could have been called “Forks”.
At first, Stephenie Meyer was calling Twilight ‘Forks’, named after the town the story takes place in. In her FAQ, she says that ‘twilight’ was on the list of potential titles, and that it was supposed to be with another word. However, she and her agent agreed that ‘twilight’ had the right feel. In other countries, Twilight can be translated into many other titles. For example, in Germany, it is called ‘Until Dawn’, in Finland it is ‘Temptation’, and in France it is called ‘Fascination’.

4. Bella has a painting of a wolf on her wall.
Bella’s bedroom has a wolf painting. This could be hinting at her relationship with Jacob in the future, or just that werewolves exist. However, as revealed in Breaking Dawn, Jacob isn’t really a werewolf: he is a shape-shifter, or therianthrope, that takes the form of a wolf. This could refer to the fact that werewolves are pretty much extinct, hunted by Caius. So is this a foreshadowing of what’s to come?
5. Fans of Twilight have special names.
Just like how fans of Harry Potter are called ‘Potterheads’, fans of Twilight are called ‘Fanpires’ or ‘Twilighters’. Especially hard-core fans are called ‘Twihards’. Some fans are also called ‘Twerds’, a combination of the words ‘twilight’ and ‘nerd’.
6. All of the Cullens wear jewelry with their family crest.
Each member of the Cullen family wears a piece of jewelry that has their family crest engraved on it. This shows that they are more than just a coven, that they are family. Edward, Emmett, and Jasper all wear a leather cuff on their right hand. Rosalie wears a big necklace, though it is switched to a smaller one in Eclipse, and an even smaller one in Breaking Dawn. Alice wears a choker, and in New Moon and Eclipse, she wears a bracelet too. Carlisle wears a silver ring on his left hand, and Esme wears a silver bracelet. Bella wears a red and green ring, and Renesmee’s locket has the crest on it.
